UKS is developed in the open. Whether you implement the format, build on the registry, or just have an opinion on how knowledge should be packaged — there's a place for you here.
🟢 The spec is open for comment
A 30-day public comment period for UKS v3.0 is running now (2026-06-23 → 2026-07-23). This is the moment to shape the standard before it's submitted to IANA and the W3C.

How decisions are made
The governance model defines who decides what and the comment windows each change requires — from a maintainer patch to a 60-day RFC for governance changes. The intent is zero-friction adoption (MIT license, no CLA) with a clear path to neutral stewardship via a W3C Community Group.
Contributing
- Implement the standard — every independent implementation strengthens the case for IANA registration.
- Comment on the spec during the open window.
- Build tooling — the SDKs and CLI are MIT-licensed and easy to extend.
- Publish knowledge — add verified packets to the registry.
