W3C Community Group

UKS will be submitted to the W3C as a Community Group — the neutral steward the governance model calls for, and an open home for evolving the standard with the broader community.

The proposed charter is in spec/W3C-CG-PROPOSAL.md.

Why a Community Group

  • Neutral governance — moves stewardship off any single vendor.
  • Open participation — anyone can join, propose, and implement.
  • A clear standards track — the natural venue for taking UKS beyond a single project.

Status

The charter is drafted and ready, held alongside the IANA registration until the public comment period closes. Forming the group needs a minimum number of supporters — recruiting them is part of opening the CG.

Get involved

If you build with UKS or want to shape the format, the comment period is the moment to weigh in — and supporters for the CG are welcome.
